Higher Mathematics

This is the toughest part of MCA Entrance test. Almost, every MCA entrance test has math upto +2 level. In some of the exams conducted by DU, Roorkee University, JNU etc, it is even higher than that. To tackle this part, you should have a sound knowledge of all the fundamentals of mathematics, shortcut techniques to solve the questions, and good practice of the course. While doing the test you should take care of the following tips:

1.Always keep a cool head.
2. Take a good night’s sleep before going for the actual test.
3. Read the directions carefully before starting the paper.
4. Always scan the paper first, before you start.
5. Some questions may be lengthy. Avoid those questions in the first run. Leave those questions to attempt later on.
6. Do not get stuck on the tough questions. This may waste your precious time
7. Use PoE (Process of elimination) techniques to solve the questions. This may save your precious time.
8. Solve as many questions as you can from the options.
9. Use shortcut techniques wherever possible.
10. Speed and accuracy should go together.
11. Avoid paper work .Do mental calculations fast.

Verbal/English

Compared to English section in MBA entrance, very little stress is given to this section in MCA entrance test. Kurukshetra University, Thapar, Punjabi University Patiala, NIMC, IMT, GNDU, Pune have English as one of their sections and also have some questions in verbal ability ( 10 – 20 %) like:

Paragraph writing
General knowledge
Idioms and Phrases
Synonyms / Antonyms
Fill in the blanks (prepositions)
Check the spelling
Sentence correction
Analogies etc.

Computer Fundamentals

For getting admission in MCA it is not necessary that you should be an expert in computers but you should have basic knowledge of computer Computer Fundamental is one of an important part of entrance test. You should be aware of following computer concepts:

Reasoning

Reasoning has almost become an integral part of every written test. This part judges candidate’s mental strength, his/her logical approach to tackle the problem and decision making power. Knowledge of reasoning is not only required to clear the written test but is also helpful in making day to day decisions about organization and operational matters.

Almost all the MCA entrance tests like Kurukshetra University, D.U., Thapar, PU, Pune have reasoning as one of their integral parts. Weightage of reasoning section varies from 25 to 50 %.
